This was planned for March/April 2009, but my recent emigration has disrupted my writing schedule more than I expected, so it has been postponed. We have identified a wonderful venue offering affordable luxury in the very heart of the city, just minutes from the harbour, opera house, &c. I will confirm dates when I have them, possibly for late 2009, more likely sometime in 2010.

Two strands. For the morning sessions, John will begin with a review of the cosmological and philosophical ideas on which astrology rests, then give a detailed account of the fixed stars, teaching you to think mythologically, so you can understand them without recourse to text-books. Finally, he will discuss 'the chart for the soul' composed of the major Arabian Parts. For the afternoon sessions, Branka and Bernhard will give a practical approach to the chart: hyleg, anareta, alcohoden; assessing the temperament; the Lord of the Geniture; significator of manner; the quality of the mind; reading round the houses. On the final day, these two strands will combine to give a rounded, in-depth understanding of the natal chart.

The emphasis throughout will be on gaining a thorough grasp of basic principles. Most astrology is a cut-and-paste job, either from books open on the desk or from pieces of books that the astrologer happens to remember. Here, you will learn to read the chart from knowledge that you truly own, without endless reference to the texts.
