THE 3RD
REAL ASTROLOGY CONFERENCE
ZURICH, SWITZERLAND
JUNE 20th-22nd, 2008
JOHN FRAWLEY, BERNHARD BERGBAUER, OSCAR HOFMAN
In English, with German translation.
SCHEDULE:
Unfortunately, Branka Stamenkovic has had to withdraw from this year's event. This is the revised schedule.
Friday evening:
John Frawley: Let’s Talk about Love
Synastry, composites, horary: astrology has so many tools for indulging our fascination with romance. Highlighting many common misconceptions, John reviews how - and more importantly when - these methods should be used.
Saturday:
John Frawley: Solar Motion, Lunar Motion (2 lectures)
The clearer we are on the philosophy and the cosmology on which astrology is based, the more we can practice astrology from what we truly understand, not merely by gluing together scraps of information that we happen to remember. With illustrations from scripture, literature and art, John discusses his latest work on how that fundamental astronomical fact, the contrary motions of the Sun and the Moon, informs both our own personal voyage and the spiritual history of the western world.
Oscar Hofman: Natal Astrology: the Horary Approach
In the tradition the student is required to master horary before beginning the more demanding study of natal astrology. One reason for this is that it encourages the student to view the natal chart in the same way as a horary: simple, clear and focussed on what is really there. Oscar shows how this approach allows the important themes in a life to be quickly identified in the natal chart.
Bernhard Bergbauer: Lord of the Geniture – the Compass of the Soul
Bernhard explains and contrasts the Lord of the Geniture and the Most Influential Planet: two key points in the natal chart. These seemingly similar concepts have completely different meanings in delineation. There will be angels present.
Sunday:
Horary Masterclass, with John, Barnhard and Oscar. (2 lectures)
Ask questions about the points that puzzle you, whether basic or advanced. Submit your own horaries (there will be a call for charts before the event). Our panel will endeavour to answer everything.
Oscar Hofman: Interventions in the Life
OK, we've studied the chart and we've worked out what the problem is. But what are we going to do about it? Oscar shows how an understanding of the doctrine of signatures gives us valuable remedial tools, whether we are dealing with ailments in a medical horary or psychological issues in the birth-chart. This enables the astrologer to play an active part, rather than being merely a spectator.
John Frawley: Mercury Reinstated
With so many of his jobs hijacked by Uranus, this poor little fellow is a neglected outcast in modern astrology. In a fun, interactive lecture John returns him to his rightful place at centre-stage, showing how he is a vital key for quickly and simply unlocking the mystery of what really goes on in other people’s minds.
FOLLOWED BY
6-DAY NATAL INTENSIVE
"UNFOLDING THE CHART THROUGH TIME"
JUNE 24th-29th, 2008
Presented by
JOHN FRAWLEY
with
BERNHARD BERGBAUER
In English, with German translation.
Whether we are seeking to predict the future or to understand what is going on in the present, we need to be able to move the chart as the life unfolds.
The course begins with a discussion of the nature of time. This is what the astrologer works with, so it is well that we understand what it is. Then a detailed consideration of progressions, profections and returns. The techniques are simple enough: it is putting them together that is the tricky bit, so that is where our attention will be concentrated. There will be a particular emphasis on the use of fixed stars and on the chart within the chart: the chart for the soul, constructed from the Arabian Parts. These will be illustrated with an in-depth look at example charts, including that of the master astrologer William Lilly, revealing truths unmentioned in his autobiography.
There will be a free half-day refresher on natal basics on Monday 23rd, open to all participants who wish to attend. This will cover hyleg, anareta, alchohoden, temperament, mind and manner.
Participants will be sent a reading-list and an assignment to be completed before the intensive. You will not be judged on how well you have done this assignment, but you will be expected to have done it.
